What Is Nikki Haley’s Family Like?

Nikki and Michael Haley have a daughter and son, Rena and Nalin.

Family is extremely important to Nikki Haley, and she works hard to prioritize both her career and her family.

She said of motherhood:

I try not to miss anything because of work. And I didn’t want to have to say that, because that doesn’t sound realistic. But it is. Family has to come first. It has to. Especially for a mom. Because if your family’s happy, you can do your job.

Who Are Nikki Haley’s Children?

Rena Haley

Nikki Haley’s 22 year old daughter Rena Haley attends her mother’s alma mater, Clemson University, and may have inherited her mother’s proclivity for politics. In 2019, Rena Haley ran for Student Body Vice President with the campaign slogan “Reaching New Heights.” Her highest profile endorsement, of course, was a retweet from her famous mother.

She is studying nursing and describes herself as “a hard working, organized, and willing individual,” just like her mother.

She enjoys “working with people and learning new things, specifically medical and sports related” and looks forward to “living a life of service and leadership.”

Nalin Haley

Nikki Haley’s 18 year old son Nalin Haley attends Villanova University.

He has enjoyed some special treatment for being the son of an awesome South Carolina Governor and Ambassador to the UN like getting a football toss and autograph from Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino at a Clemson game, and meeting President Trump.

Nikki Haley was proud and excited to visit him at his dorm room while on the campaign trail. She loves being able to make time for her kids with visits like these.

Other than the occasional social media post from her account, the Haley children have largely avoided the spotlight.

What Is the Rest of Nikki Haley’s Family Like?

Nikki Haley’s parents are Ajit Singh Randhawa and Raj Kaur Randhawa. They immigrated from Punjab, India. They instilled in her the importance of family, faith and hard work. Nikki says they were a huge inspiration for her first book, Can’t Is Not an Option.

She also has three siblings: two brothers and a sister.

Nikki Haley’s sister Simran Singh is an author, poet, artist, and recognized speaker. She is a life coach and also had the opportunity to give the final talk of the TEDxCharleston conference in 2013.

Nikki Haley’s younger brother Gogi Randhawa is a freelance graphic and website designer. He started his own business, Msndrstd Creative, and has a bachelor of science in electronics engineering from Devry University. He also plays guitar and has an associate’s degree in music business management from the Art Institute of Atlanta. In his free time, he volunteers for Harvest Hope Food Bank to help feed families in need.

Nikki Haley’s elder brother Mitti Randhawa is a 20 year veteran of the U.S. army, retiring as a major of the National Guard Reserve. He was a commander on the frontlines of Operation Desert Storm when Iraq invaded Kuwait. Like Nikki, he converted to Christianity and is a Southern Baptist.

Nikki Haley said of her family members’ faith:

My brother and I have converted to Christianity, and my other brother and sister are still Sikh. So for me, it’s not something that I ever want to be judgmental on. I know my parents are two people of a very strong faith. I respect all that they’ve done in raising their four kids and in the opportunities that they’ve given us.

Nikki Haley is extremely motivated by family. Her parents referred to their family of six as the Original Six, and they inspired her to start her non-profit organization, Original Six Foundation.
