Nikki Haley has published two personal memoirs. With All Due Respect: Defending America with Grit and Grace came out in November 2019 and Can’t Is Not an Option: My American Story was published in April 2012.
Nikki Haley’s First Book: Can’t Is Not An Option
Nikki Haley’s first book is a personal memoir detailing her unique American journey from small town South Carolina to the United Nations. Nikki Haley’s book lets readers get to know her as she shares her story of hope and perseverance.
In her book, Nikki Haley discusses how growing up as the only Indian family in small-town South Carolina inspired her to lead a life of service.
Nikki Haley gives us a sneak peak into the book during her 2012 speech at the Republican National Convention. She opens up about how her parents instilled a sense of gratitude for growing up in our country and taught her that hard work is the key to success.
In the book, she tells the story of the boutique clothing business her mother started in the living room of their home, which eventually grew into a multi-million-dollar company.
Nikki Haley talks about how growing up with her family business gave her skills, confidence and responsibility. She was in charge of the taxes and bookkeeping of the businesses from a young age.
After earning a degree in accounting and working in corporate America, Nikki was inspired to enter the political scene. She had grown up watching her parents battle government bureaucracy and overregulation in business and was inspired to take action.
Nikki Haley’s book continues on to tell the story of how she was able to defeat her 30-year incumbent opponent and become the first female governor of South Carolina.
She did it by fighting for issues she was passionate about, like lower taxes and government accountability, and was rewarded with a diverse following. Nikki Haley’s road to office was not easy. She was determined not to let racial and religious hate stop her.
Can’t Is Not An Option is an undeniably compelling and honest read. Her memoir is the story of her family’s rise in South Carolina and the strength and faith it took to become the powerful woman and politician she is today.
We believe that it is only fitting that she continue her American dream and rise to the highest position in the country.
Nikki Haley’s Second Book: With All Due Respect
After stepping down from her position as Ambassador, Nikki Haley finally had the opportunity to finish writing her second book, which skyrocketed to the New York Times Bestseller list.
In With All Due Respect, Haley lets readers in on her experience with the Trump administration and addresses major national and international issues. Her telling is honest, inspiring, and a true testament to the strong woman and leader that she is.
Nikki’s account of the 2015 Charleston church massacre is considered the most passionate and poignant section of the book.
Nikki Haley talks about the effect white supremacist Dylann Roof’s brutal massacre of 9 worshippers at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church had on her and the pain she felt for those families, for that church community and for her state. She led with grace and strength and made sure that her state did not fall into chaos, but instead held vigils for the victims and came together during a time of tragedy.
In one of the most candid sections, she describes the PTSD she suffered from and the lengths she went to in order to protect the state and fight off hate and division in the aftermath of the shooting. She revealed in the book for the first time that she sought counseling in order to help her process the event.
Also notable in the book is Haley’s enjoyment working for President Donald Trump. He valued her opinions and showed her respect during meetings of the National Security Council. Haley explains that she and President Trump “have different styles” and made sure to tell him when she did not agree.
Overall, she repeatedly pledges her support of the Trump administration, only resigning from her post to take time for herself and prepare for her next big position – which we hope is President of the United States.
